Bio
Beatrix Q. Townsend was born on April 7th, 1963 in London to a muggle father, Arthur, and his muggleborn witch wife, Maria. While Maria had recieved a Hogwarts letter on her eleventh birthday, she declined to attend, though not out of any fear or distrust of magic - she was just more interested in music. After she married Arthur, a guitarist with a small local band (named, for no good reason, the Flying Lorries), the pair opened a music store in London and lived in a small flat above it, where they would come to raise their daughter.

Surrounded by music as she was, Beatrix spent as much time as she could get away with inside the store, making a fair number of friends her own age as well as a number of older, even adult friends, care of the store's clientelle. She never thought this particularly odd. She'd go play football outside with the younger number of her friends, and when the older crew came in, it was time to settle down and talk about music (and sometimes rugby, which she was also rather fond of, thanks to her dad), usually from a comfortably perch on her father's shoulders. While Beatrix never asked her father for guitar lessons, she would attend every gig the Lorries played along with her mum, and after years and years of singing along, she developed a better than average singing voice. Arthur insists she inherited it from Maria, who is a singer herself.

Though she had shown no hints of magical talent, save perhaps a knack for finding things her parents had lost (especially car keys), a Hogwarts letter arrived for Beatrix right on schedule. A more curious child than her mother, she asked her parents for permission to go, and after a bit of waffling on their part, the girl's puppy dog eyes eventually won out. She was accompanied by two vaguely puzzled parents to buy her school supplies, and come time for it, she giddily shipped off on the Express.

While magic had a somewhat stiff learning curve, compared to what she had been learning beforehand at home, Bea found it fun enough that putting a lot of work into it was enjoyable, and the professors her first year did a good job of making things seem simple and straightforward enough for her to build up the confidence that her invitation wasn't simply a fluke. Flying was an easy favourite, of her first classes, and it only took one viewing to turn her into a moderately rabid fan of Quidditch. Her return home at the end of the year was celebrated with a jam session in the store, and a slightly more aggressive game of football than she used to play, after watching wizarding sports for the past several months. The events of her second year - specifically the deaths of Professors Mahoghany and Morgana - resulted in a much more subdued homecoming, as well as a need to con her parents into letting her return at all, which Bea somehow managed to convince them of after a very stressful summer.

Still a bit shaken from her second year, Bea's returning for her third, and with it, her first taste of elective classes. More out of curiousity than anything else, she's signed up for Divination and Care of Magical Creatures.
